Who is NjualemATM? Okay, Here is my story:
Early Beginnings
I started taking WordPress web building seriously when I was a kid. I was lucky to have the internet back home from 1998 to 2000. I became fascinated by design, I actually started with graphic designing because I knew how to draw, so I started mastering platforms like window Paint and PowerPoint, where I would build slides and animate them.
When the internet came, I was always online, searching for things. Because I am a very curious person, I want to learn a few things about making money online and what people are doing to do so.
One passion I had was to create my own website because back then, that was the ultimate game changer. WordPress was the simplest platform to use at that time, and with had to learn too much coding and all those technical languages as of the time.
I was among the first badges in my secondary school days to have a computer certificate where we practiced using Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Windows and so on. But as we know, time changes and tools also upgrade and keep up with all that didn’t really happen as I got carried away with other activities in my University days.
The Transition to Digital Marketing and SEO
I went on to try and study CISCO computer networking but never got the chance to register for the exams. As I realized I was not well prepared and life had started to take hold of me.
After a self-evaluation of the time, I realized I needed to change my environment and focus. A friend of mine advised me to follow him to a professional school. I was able to write the entrance exam for the Advanced School of Mass Communication (ASMAC) and was lucky enough to be accepted under the waiting list system.
I got into the field of Advertising in the year 2015 and after my graduation, I decided to specialize in Digital Marketing or Advertising in 2018.
Professional Growth: From Freelancing to Full-Time SEO Specialist
After working with a few startups and call centers, the entrepreneurial spirit took hold of me. I became fascinated and passionate about developing my skills, what I knew I truly love doing and what I know I could do to make the world a better place.
I started Freelancing in 2019, doing graphic designs for individuals, small businesses, and NGOs. I later was able to learn how to build a WordPress website from one of my mentors Darrel Willson on YouTube and that is how I found SEO.
SEO felt so much like the marketing I was being taught back at school. I wasn’t as popular as it is right now. So, the basic knowledge I had gathered on how to build a website, I knew implementing SEO strategies and techniques were key to any website in today’s modern age.
Expanding Horizons: Current Projects and Ventures
After two years of Freelancing with national and international businesses and individuals, I realized that I had to understand how the business world operates clearly by getting myself a proper job related to my new-found passion for ranking websites.
I got my first SEO-related job in 2021, in a relatively new startup that had existed for just over a year.
We have grown now and have expanded into new market opportunities like creating an online e-commerce marketplace that valorizes African-made products to the world, and more specifically friends of Africa around the world and on the continent.
